In Jose Coronado, et al. vs. Great White Inc. allegations of a broad pattern of despicable employment practices were deemed to be true. All of the seven plaintiffs were working for Great White without payroll taxes or industrial insurance being paid on their behalf. One of the plaintiffs, Gustavo, was injured on the job. Some of the other plaintiffs took him in for medical treatment. Three days later, they were all fired apparently in retaliation for actions taken in response to the injury. Great White failed to give them the final pay they were owed prior to their firing. In response to a demand letter Great White made a back-dated, partial payment weeks later. A further demand was unanswered. The plaintiffs were awarded a default judgment that included an indemnification agreement assigning responsibility for the unpaid taxes to Great White. Again, Great White did not respond to the court order awarding damages. The plaintiffs had to go to the sheriff to collect over sixteen thousand dollars to settle this lawsuit.
