How long will the IRS let Martin slide on unpaid debt?
Since June 14, 2007, the IRS has filed 5 liens worth well over two million dollars in unpaid taxes. These primarily cover taxes from March 31st 2001 to December 31st 2006, and are for both federal unemployment insurance (form 940) and for employer’s quarterly tax returns (form 941).
Employers who cheat on their taxes on this massive a scale have an unfair advantage over their competitors who are honest, responsible businessmen who pay their taxes. When industries are allowed to be overrun by this kind of crook, no honest, responsible contractor can compete.
The IRS has been known to take drastic collection actions against people that far in arrears. Construction users who allow Great White on their project should be concerned that they may not be in business to finish the project. No one wants to be behind the IRS in bankruptcy court.
